Week 4 - Assignment 3: UDL Lesson Plans

The All About Plants unit plan gives students the opportunity to learn about plant life in a fun and meaningful manner. In this unit, students learn the parts of a plant, each part’s function and what a plant needs in order to survive. Using modeling clay, students build a plant representation and then name its parts. In addition, students conduct an investigation to determine the need of sunlight and water for plants to grow.
The UDL-aligned strategies provide the students with multiple means of representation, choice of preferable activities and expression. Through differentiation of content and process, these lessons accommodate the diverse learners within a classroom.

In today’s digital era, where technology is a part of every aspect in our lives, it is crucial that educators learn and gain the necessary skills to appropriately integrate new literacies in their classroom. The International Society for Technology in Education set a framework, known as the ISTE standards, to guide teachers and professionals in creating innovative learning environments in this digital age.
